TRANSLATION

You can’t find an “English version” of a Japanese online auction. Since these auctions are for Japanese users, they are only available in Japanese. So, if you are not able to communicate in Japanese, the only thing you can do is to have them translated. Needless to say, a professional translator will require tens or hundreds of dollars to translate a single page. It’s not even feasible, because, on an auction site, you might browse hundreds of pages, (imagine the money you'd have to pay for such a work, and the auction would probably be finished before all the translation was done). The simple solution is to use a machine translation from the Web: what we call a “Web translator”.
Using a Web translator is not difficult at all; you just copy and paste the URL of the page you want to translate, and then click the submit button, and you will have the whole page translated in just seconds. The only drawback is that this kind of translation won’t be 100% correct. Unfortunately, no Web translator can guarantee this - no matter how sophisticated it is. Sometimes they make extremely funny mistakes. However, you can use Web translators to get an“approximate” idea of an auction (also the images in the auction will help you with this). Note that even Japanese users sometimes misunderstand the meaning of an auction offer (especially if the explanation is not good enough or if its text just doesn't make sense).

Some of good translators we can recommend are "Language tools" by Google, Nifty Translation powered by Amikai and multilanguage translation by Infoseek.
